VoD is re-airing as I type this, and I am reminded of how much I love the opening theme, the UK version, and how glad I am that the US version has begun using it. I then wondered what the lyrics were. I found the following:

The vocals sound Celtic but are in fact a famous Hindu mantra, the Gayatri Mantra, taken from the Rig Veda. The words are "OM bhūr bhuvah svah tat savitur varēnyam bhargō dēvasya dhīmahi dhiyō yō nah pracōdayāt", which may be translated in various ways but means approximately "may we attain that excellent glory of Savitar the God / so May he stimulate our prayers".

Wow, this Wikipedia is pretty cool. Tons more BSG Info HERE. (Be careful, while there is a ton of info about the show so far, seems there are plot discussions for episodes not aired yet. Apologies, I did not see or read those.)

It's not my intention to be at all rude, but would you mind terribly adding a spoiler warning for the link? I read the spoiler warning over at Wikipedia, but I didn't find it terribly clear, and ending up getting spoiled for some major season two developments. It's totally my fault of course, but an additional warning here couldn't hurt.

Oh wow, that's fascinating! I'd no idea it wasn't just some New Age-y babbling. And wow, way to drive home the religious content of the show. Cool.

Given that the entry spoke of both series, I assumed the spoiler warnings referred to the original series, and possibly extended to BSG 2003 season one. My mistake, obviously.

Dude, it's no problem. I certainly never meant to cast blame. I copped to my mistake, and it was clearly mine, not yours. I merely thought an additional spoiler warning here couldn't hurt.

I actually miss the mix of last season's opening credits. I love the haunting melody mixed in with the drums and glimpses of what is to come in the episode. Added a frenetic pace that I definitely miss this year.

Other than that the music threaded throughout each episode is top notch.
