According to TV Shows on DVD, the release for a U.S. version of season one will be September 20th. The list price will be $59.98, with actual sales price between $40 to $55. Five DVDs - one more than the British-inspired Best Buy set going on sale next Tuesday for $48.95. Will include the 2003 mini-series on the first disc as well as many extras. Follow the link for more information.

Given that I've got the first season on video and the mini-series on DVD, I'll be waiting for the full package release.

Ok, I'm a little slow. Does that mean that the 'UK Version' doesn't have all the commentaries and stuff? I'm just wondering what other differences there might be, since I already own the mini on DVD...

Hrm. That still left me confused--though at the very least, I'd think that anything offered on the BB version will be on the general release, right?

Guess we wait for reports from anyone buying through Best Buy...

The UK version will NOT have commentaries or any extras except deleted scenes.

If you like commentaries (and I do), it's probably worth it to wait for the US release.

Ok, thanks so much for clearing that up!

Sept 20 isn't that far away! :D

Most of the "commentaries" are the podcasts, which you can download from Sci-fi.com. If you have the mini, you have the commentary for the mini. I think there might be MAYBE one or two commentaries on the DVD that weren't podcast. And since the commentaries were podcast, no I don't think they're on the UK version.

I want it for screencapping so I think I'll go with the UK version rather than wait another two months, especially since I already HAVE the mini (and would buy it again if I needed to ;).

You know, you're right. Ron only did podcasts for TMUTMD forward.

Shit! Now I either wait or spend more money.

walking off, grumbling...

I just occurred to me... isn't September 20th around the time the show goes into hiatus here?

Clever marketing. Grrrrr....

Hmm, yeah, I think that is just about when hiatus is scheduled to hit.

Also ten days before Serenity hits theaters, but that's neither here nor there . . . *g*

Ah! I catch my first episode of "Firefly" today. Guess I'll find out if that's neither here nor there. ;)

Oooh yay! That's right, Firefly starts on SciFi tonight. One more reason to try and get out of work early. ;)

Yay! That's more than a bit expensive for thirteen eps, but still.... Yay!

I have to admit to some curiosity: how did they manage to put the mini-series on only one DVD? I have the mini-series alone, and it's on two DVDs. Anyway.

But yes, yay! I'm also gratified that they're including the mini-series with the first season. That should make it significantly easier for the casual fan. Not like, oh, due South's DVDs. lol

I have the miniseries, and it's on a single DVD. Granted, you have to turn it over to play the deleted scenes and the lowdown.

::blink:: Oh god, I'm such an idiot. Hee! Oops. I guess I was remembering having to turn the disc over, only in my head that was stored as "there are two discs". Um. Never mind me. lol :)

Hee! I thought *I* was the only one who did shit like that.

Thanks for making me feel better on a crappy day. :)

Wooo! I was just about to buy the miniseries dvd. I guess I'll wait a little longer and get it all together. Thanks a lot for the info! :)
