Hi...new poster here! Just wanted to say hello, as well as let folks know that former Smallville writer and current DC Comics writer Mark Verheiden is going the writing team of BSG next season! Verheiden wrote some of the most well-liked episodes on SMallville...he's a real gem and will be a great addition to the BSG family!

What *sorts* of eps did Mark Verheiden write? Romance? angsty? Plot-thick?

He's done a number of types of episodes. He wrote two eps that are considered among the best of the series, both with a humorous touch. He's considered a "Superman mythos" guy...one of two writers that the creators go to for stories that delve deep into the comics. He was entrusted with important episodes: the introcution of CLark Kent's x-ray vision, his heat vision, and the introduction of Perry White into CLark's life. They were big episodes, and he pulled them off well.

He does very well with comedic eps. I think he's also one of the better storytellers on staff, in that his episodes (with a couple of exceptions) are interesting, progress evenly and nicely, and pay attention to detail so as not to leave too many plotholes (which is a common problem on Smallville).

I'm guessing, however, that his experience with developing long-term storylines for the comics is what probably attracted BSG to him. I don't know enough about Verheiden's comic work at DC, however.
