In light of "Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part 2", now what do you think of the beloved Boomer?

I like the Boomer character ("beloved" is too strong a term, I think), but I would have been disappointed if she hadn't carried out some kind of diabolical Cylon mission, and we would have had to wait until next season to deliver the goods. That being said, I still feel some sympathy for the character, since she knows what she is, knows she's going to hurt people she cares about, but doesn't know how to stop herself.

I feel sorry for her. She's town between her programing and her free will.

Same as before. Galactica!Boomer is a very tragic character, like the Manchurian Candidate, and I feel for her. I can't imagine anything more horrible than having my own free will overridden by some programming. Caprica!Boomer is the BSG version of a Bond Girl, with signs of becoming more. I cheered when she told off Helo in KLG, Part II.

I sorta feel sorry for her, and then sorta not. I mean, I knew she would do something stupid soon, she even thought that she might hurt someone soon. But needless to say, her, and all her copies are going to be in deeeeeeep sh*t next season! ^_^;;

I have a lot of sympathy for Caprica Boomer. It'll be interesting to see how she and Starbuck interact next season. I have sympathy for Galactica Boomer too, but in her case I'd like a slightly clearer understanding of how her consciousness works. For example, did she wimp out (yes, I'm oversimplifying gigantically using that phrase) in trying to commit suicide, or did her Cylon side kick in at the last second and intervene? How altered is her memory? You get the impression she has no specific memory of say, swimming around in the water tanks. I want to know more about that. Of course, Moore is going to have to come up with a pretty spectacular reason why the doesn't get spaced shortly after the new season begins (maybe the notion will just be that Caprica Boomer will become "the" Boomer for season 2. We shall see.)

Funny you mention 'get spaced'. Now this is my own theory (so this is far from a spoiler), but I think Galactica!Boomer will indeed get spaced.

Reason for this is we have the Farscape 'extra Crichton' rule going here with Capricra!Boomer running around. They can easily bring her up to Galactica and simplify things.

"Farscape 'extra Chrichton' rule"....hehehehe

I agree. There can be only one.

Actually, I was thinking that now GalBoomer's charactization could become very interesting since she now has to face what she is. I also find her the more compelling Boomer. I hope they don't space her.

I think CapBoomer will become untrustworthy once she has this baby. At the end of the day, she's a Cylon and won't she be compelled to complete whatever her mission is? I don't think she was conditioned the way GalBoomer was (she always knew what she was) but there has to be somekind of failsafe. No?

Ya know, I was convinced I'd use the 'spell Crichton' question as a 'prove yourself as a Scaper' challenge one day. ;) But I digress...

I totally agree that Galactica!Boomer has quiet the interesting road to travel, she could even be the one to be able to break that cylon hold and fully embrace her human half. That being said, I also really see her as being the sacrificial Boomer somewhere down the line. Be it the spacing for what she did to Adama or the 'take the bullet for the human race' sacrifice I see coming her way somewhere in the future.

Caprica!Boomer might as well be wearing the green shirt of invulnerability being as she's the one who is baking the bun.

Oh, forgot to hit the 'failsafe' question... there would have to be, I agree. And if there is, I can bring my sacrificial Gal!Boomer theory right into it and make her the one to discover it to her own demise.

Jeez, poor thing, I keep trying to fling her off the cliff, don't I?

I actually feel more empathy for Caprica Boomer because I feel she actually chose to side with Helo [if not the humans] and go against her programming. Or maybe that has all been planned - hard to tell. But I really believe she does truly care for Helo and for the baby she is carrying regardless of her initial purpose.

I do feel sorry for Galactica Boomer because it seemed to me that she didn't realize what she was doing when she shot Adama - until it was over. Much like the water tanks. I think that even though she blew up the cylon ship and desperately wanted to be "human" her programming is indeed stronger than her human "self". She is a risk on Galactica and probably will be spaced.

Agreed with the 2 Crichton theory as well.

Caprica Boomer will come on board and be watched and it will be interesting if she will be more like No. 6 [in Gaius' head] and have some true affection it would seem for the humans or if she will return to her cylon roots.

I cannot wait.
