I sorta feel like I've come full circle. The original BSG was the first show I felt really fannish about, and now I really like the new one as well. I'm eternally grateful they didn't have the net back then. The stories I imagined were so mary sue they make me wince now!
I can absolutely see Dirk Benedict, (the original Starbuck), as Kara's Father. *g*
Though they later changed her into a nurse, Cassiopeia in the first BSG series was originally a prostitute. From what I can remember, on one of the planets prostitution was regulated and they had to be certified, at least at the high level she was at. I wonder if they'll introduce that again? She was Starbuck's girlfriend in the original series. Maybe they'll have this Starbuck flirting with a high-class prostitute too. I'm already picturing a very hunky Caspian. I'd love to see them have a bisexual, male, highly trained prostitute on the show. Think of the fanfic possibilities! *eg*
BSG DVD commentary
I loved the image of Boomer dripping wet next to an explosive. Talk about a baptism of fire! *g*
Was the picture all the pilots touched before heading out something from the mini-series that I don't remember?
Another thing I really liked was Adama's comment about the difference between the military and the police. I thought it was a wonderful reference to Iraq.

Date: 2005-01-19 02:40 pm (UTC)One thing I am absolutely loving about this series is how current events have really shaped the world the writers have created. I noticed his comment about the military vs. the police too, and the scene where officer Dualla is looking for a place to post a photo of her family and finds the wall of the missing just broke my heart. The allusions to 9/11 were so obvious, and yet so well done.

Oh, socialators. That show was so wonderfully cheesy.
