Scorching hotness. Fisticuffs. Arms and more. Kara and Lee behaving badly! TV doesn't get any better than this.

Let's get the non-Kara/Lee stuff out of the way first: I'm not even going to pretend to care what's happening on Caprica anymore, until next episode when Kara arrives. That ought to liven things up. The president is getting more into her religious mania. I'm not liking her as much as I used to. Baltar is pulling away from Six (I cheered when she slammed his head into that mirror), but I don't believe he really loves Kara. The way he talked Boomer into suicide was chilling, but her Cylon side kept her from being successful. When she was in sickbay, that's the only time I've ever felt sympathy for any of the Boomers. I'm worried for Crashdown, Cally, Tyrol, and the others, but not for Baltar. He deserves to have something very bad happen to him. Kara has lost some of her faith in Commander Adama, who doesn't look entirely unsympathetic during their last conversation before she jumps to Caprica.

The important stuff: Kara/Lee.

Eeeeeee! They are so in love, only they show it by frakking other people and saying mean things and hitting each other. I love them! (Yes, I have issues. Why do you ask?)

I've known for ages when and why Kara frakked Baltar and what happened with Lee because of it, but...guh. The scorching hotness of her Lee fantasy will stay with me for a long time. Ahem.

The card game with whumped!Apollo and drunk!Baltar was...interesting. Baltar doesn't take it well when she calls Lee's name. I don't think for one second that Baltar is capable of loving anyone besides Baltar, but now he seems even more fixated on her because his pride was hurt. He tells Lee, "You can't compete with me! I always win." It's all about Baltar and his pride. Then Kara shows up and touches Lee's shoulder (the shoulder she'd been clutching in her fantasy a short time before), and Baltar gets all snarky with his "Maybe you'd like to sit next to Captain Adama." Lee totally knows what happened now. This would have been a good time for Lee to start his trademark overthinking. Look, buddy, you know Kara had a drunken one-nighter (one hopes!) with him. Now why would that make Baltar act so jealous and weird about *you and Kara*, hmm?

Kara, Kara, Kara. Baltar? Ick. That man isn't coming within ten feet of me without a full-body condom, and there's exactly zero chance I'd ever let him get closer than that. And Lee doesn't seem to be in an understanding mood. It's not like I can see you explaining to him, "I love you so much, but I don't deserve you and you're safer if I keep you at a distance, and that's why I frakked Baltar at your first sign of sexual interest in me." The fact that you took Lee's BS for that long before punching him and later even apologized should clue him in, but he's not thinking too clearly right now. The red haze of sexual jealousy tends to do that to a man. You really did screw up this time. You must know how he feels, after his plaintive "Why'd you do it, Kara? Just tell me why?" Considering that he didn't speak to his father for two years, the fact that he calls you "Kara" again before the end of the episode should tell you something.

Lee. *shakes head* You are such a vicious, smirking asshat when you're angry. Is punching a girl, basically calling her a slut, and indulging in petty rank-pulling really the right way to show her how much you love her? (Well, seeing that the girl is frakked-up Kara, you might be onto something.) I'll forgive you because she punched first. I know it feels like she did to your heart what your father did to you when you were "just sparring," but you know you'd miss her. If you hadn't given up so easily the night before, it could have been you, regs or no. That's why you didn't win. And I think you know it, and that makes you even angrier — at yourself.

Those two need to have their heads knocked together. Or maybe they should be locked up together, like in a fic, and not allowed to come out until they have figured things out.

In closing, scorching hotness! And The Arms (and The Shoulders and The Back). Guh.

Gah, so fucking true. Great analysis of their dynamic in this ep.

I don't think Lee will necessarily find out about the "oh lee", though I'd really like him to... I doubt they'll go there.

if you haven't seen it - watch the deleted scene with Kara and Lee that's posted on the official page. Just watch it, because Lee is so charmingly oblivious and she's so fracking mad at him... just...

These two are majorly fucked up people, and my heart bleeds for them. It really does. You kind of want to lock them in a room and not let them out until they've resolved their issues.

Of course, if he doesn't keep his yap shut, she may kill him first.

Thanks for the reminder about the deleted scenes! So many this week, and so good! Lee's sudden jump from buddy-buddy to jealous rage makes more sense now.

I'm with you -- I knew, but not all the details, and oh. my. god. I keep replaying that scene in my mind, and I need to give more attention to other details of the plotline . . .

hahahahahaha! okay, i enjoyed your whole analysis, but this in particular sent me into a gale of giggles. i agree completely.

i do think it might be remotely possible that gaius feels something for starbuck, aside from the "no one's ever thwarted me sexually before" thing. probably not love, but maybe her being different from all other women he's encountered is enough to knock him into some real feeling. then again, he's so completely wack that i doubt it.
