A question about our story so far

I haven't seen all of the episodes that have aired so far (or any of the miniseries), and I'm wondering how much we know about Tigh and Adama's history--how long they've known each other and under what circumstances, how they became friends, and suchlike. I did notice the snippets of backstory that we got in Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down, but I'd only started watching a couple of weeks before that. If anyone could recommend any particularly good episodes to watch to get the background of these two characters, that would be most excellent as well.

(I hope it's on-topic to ask this here. The main reason I have to ask instead of just looking it up on a fan site, of course, is that sites with comprehensive character guides are all highly spoilerific for those of us on this side of the Atlantic...)
