First off, 2008 -- what's that about? How long of a break do these people need?

Second, I really miss having proper, opening credits=(

Okay, onto Sunday's episode.

I'm not really buying the whole "I'll be damned! I'm a Cylon -- and so are you!" thing. Think about it. Colonel Tigh somehow managed to spend 40 years with the Colonial Fleet, becomes XO of a capital warship (with the associated security clearances) and somehow the military vetting process doesn't uncover the fact that his past just doesn't add up. Then there's Anders; before the attacks, he was a celebrity sports figure, yet no journalist took a look into his past. Tyrol could have blended into the background enough to be a sleeper-Cylon, but his whole fling with Boomer makes that hard to believe (such a tryst would be contradictory to Cylon goals, and I'd have to figure they would have installed some kind of programming into the both of them to prevent that). Tory Foster is an unknown, but with 3 or of 4 stretching credulity, I don't buy her as one either. I'm kind of leaning toward the idea that the Cylons did something to them, while they were on New Caprica.

Finally, I'm become more convinced that the whole Starbuck thing is a re-imagining of "War of the Gods" from TOS.

I guess that's it.

Pretty sure that was just an added-on time saver for the last two episodes. They'll probably have new credits for the new season.

In 2008. But we don't talk about that.

In a recent interview, you can find it at battlestar_blog, RDM states that these Four ARE Cylons, but just fundamentally different. I can't tell you how mad that makes me, that this is so...final, no pun intended. It's too quick, too rash, and too un-shocking. The moment they could all hear the music, you knew who they were. The buildup just didn't work in this case.

My theory is that Lee now has a Head!Kara, because she seemed to calm. There wasn't any static from the intercom, and Galactica wasn't rejoicing on the other end from hearing Kara Thrace's voice. Mmm.

Pretty sure the lack of credits was so that we couldn't tell if Katee was going to be a guest star or if she'll be back as a regular. Otherwise, that'd definitely be anti-climatic.

I agree about how the unveiling of the 4 cylons seem somewhat vague. As if poof! Now they know. I can't remember if this is my memory is messing up but, didn't they say that it was like a light switch just turned on? To [livejournal.com profile] thomascrown, they could probably back check Boomer's background and still end up with records of her existing. My only concern is with Tigh. Adama must have known him for decades. If that's the case, skinjob tech has been around for a looooooong time. And if Tigh served with Adama in the first Cylon war, then what was the purpose of the original Cylon War?

To [livejournal.com profile] the_justiner, they didn't have enough time nor did they want to show the reactions of those aboard Galactica. After Kara says that she knows the way to Earth, then they pan out. Lee hadn't been able to react, so it could be that Galactica couldn't react either. In any case, we won't know for sure about anything until the fourth season.

The Final 5 are clearly different than the other models so I'm assuming their development could be different as well.

As far as not knowing, Boomer didn't know, either. And then she did.

I've got theories about what the original Cylon war was but it's pure speculation and - I'm afraid this is what they're really doing - it's kind of lame dramatically. Jumping the shark, wimping out. The tigh thing doesn't bother me. All of the Final 5 have been instrumental in the military and resistance to the Cylons. Perhaps they're the Lords of Kobol? Perhaps this entire thing is circular?

Like I said, kinda lame, but all this "what's happened before will happen again" stuff seems to be heading in this direction if you take it literally.

Probably axed them b/c Katee Sackoff left. If they included her as a "guest star" everyone would know that the disappeared/dead Starbuck was reappearing.
