I'm really disappointed in some people. I live in the UK and it takes me until Tuesday to get the chance to watch BSG. As some of you are probably aware - Some asshole decided to create a "spoiler" journal yesterday and add a whole load of us BSG-fans. Naturally it has now ruined it for me and probably a few other people as well. I kind of figured that what happened in the episode would actually happen, but even so, it has now ruined the surprise for me. It really really has and I feel quite angry over it. I know I'm probably being silly in some people's eyes, but it really isn't fair 'nor is it funny to spoil something that someone else really enjoys and is really looking forward to.
I just wonder if it was someone in this community who is the owner of the journal.

Date: 2007-03-05 11:54 am (UTC)It does sound like it could be interpreted in a pretty malicious way, but I feel like maybe I'm missing some part of your explanation.
How does them adding you a) allow you to see their posts if you haven't added them, and b) force you to read something labelled "spoilers"...?

This is infinitely worse than when someone spoiled Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for me.
What a troll.

Date: 2007-03-05 01:35 pm (UTC)Thank god lj has that feature now where they disappear off of your "friends of" list so I don't have to look at that eyesore of a name. I just wish I could do it proactively for this joker.
ban_set asshole
Where is Cain's iron-fisted method of dealing with security leaks when you need it?

Date: 2007-03-05 02:16 pm (UTC)It didn't used to be this way. I could ban someone and they could still list me as a friend. But due to the fact that the person I just banned dropped off of my friends of list, it looks like the stuff that lj had been meaning to implement for a while was finally done.
I think you can ban someone through the lj interface, but I always prefer to go to the admin console and do it.

Just type in
ban_set
and then the username
They should drop off your friends of list after that.

I'm really sorry you got spoiled. That was quite the episode, and far better to see it unspoiled.
