owl: Stylized barn owl (bsg)
[personal profile] owl posting in [community profile] 13thcolony

I haven't actually seen any of this yet (UK, sigh), but I've read synopsis..es...whatever and transcripts. I am incapable of waiting for anything. So.

-Kara, oh Kara. You are so messed up and broken and I want to smack you and hug you at the same time. I knew when the small child appeared that she wasn't her daughter (too old), but I thought that she would die when Kara was escaping. This way was slightly less messed up than I had imagined, but slightly.
Leoben gives me the creeps. He has done since the interrogation episode. I suppose the moral of this story is 'Do not try to drown your prisoners in a bucket, for they will come back to life and frak you inna head'.

-The suicide bombers/collaborators thing. It seems a bit stupid to kill Cylons, who come back to life again, by killing humans, who don't, specially as the survivor count ticks down to 40000. This week's let's-throw-Jammer out the airlock was...well. Yeah, he was annoying, but he's been around in the background for a while, and he was one of the Chief's 'kids' that he was so protective of in the first series, and now....

-Gaeta has turned from CIC wallpaper to hero. I now officially love him. Bet they kill him off, now.

-I am not looking forward to the Anders/Kara/Lee/Dee luurrve polygon. Eastenders in space, gah. I have a haunting feeling that Lee/Kara is meant to be the Ross/Rachel of BSG, they'll be put together in the last episode that no matter how many other people they marry en route. And I like Dee and Anders and the prospect of the The One Where Everyone Gets Divorced fills me with yuk. (I do occasionally ship Lee/Kara, but only for five minutes at any given time). Aaand here we go, Anders has just been dumped. Actually, he's probably better off that way, given Kara's current state, but, ow ow ow ow the pain of it all. Oh, and I hope the mysterious falling-out between her and Lee is over something more interesting than 'Woe, s/he married someone else! '

-My first reaction to fat!Lee was a revolt against spoiling the pretty of Jamie Bamber; second was, wait, where's he getting enough food to get fat? Actually, where are they getting any food? I can see the fuel being some sort of metal that they mine, but my disbelief is unsuspended at the thought of McGalactica. Perhaps they can grow it by algae or something, and they just need raw materials? What about the colony, wouldn't that need some form of agriculture? But I doubt they have any crops or livestock. Then where do they get paper, bootlaces, toothpaste, razorblades (judging by the general furriness in the first few episodes, the answer seems to be: they don't), oil, buttons, wingnuts?

-People are actually surprised by the dodginess of some of Roslin's actions/decisions. C'mon, she's a politician. Possibly growing up in Northern Ireland has made me cynical, but I can see her and Zarek fitting right in at Stormont.

-Gaius, you are so screwed. Ah, well these things happen when you end the world, twice. I think you and Caprica!Six have to win the award for Most Frakked-up Couple, beating Kara/Anyone by a narrow margin.

Haha, I so agree with all of this! I hope they don't kill Gaeta, he is easily my 2nd or 3rd fav character now next to Gaius and Kara.

Fat!Lee just makes me laugh and cringe at the same time.

Gaius, poor Gaius...

They talked about crops in previous episodes or maybe it was in the webisodes - like the availability of fresh vegetables.

On Galactica - Lee had basically nothing to do for months/year so he was just eating and laying around and becoming a fatass. There was nobody else on Galactica to force anyone to ration anything.

A friend of mine showed me a clipping from a UK magazine that had "betrayer" over Lee's face and "betrayed" over Kara's.

The same article had a similar setup with a Six and an Eight, but the words over their faces were more predictable: "destroyer" and "creator."

Oh, really? Interesting. What are the Adama/Roslin and Gaius/Six ones?
