I copied the design from a BSG patch. The skin of the pumpkin is about an inch thick at most, so I won't have to carve too deep for the effect I want.

I used an awl (a metal pointy stick) and poked through the paper along the lines to transfer the design. The design itself had to be copied from a 6" patch, so yeah, THAT part was freehanded. Took me about three days! I must be insane...

Freehand design

I know it's a little late, but maybe for next year... If you've got access to a scanner, that might be a way faster way to get the design - scan it and blow it up and tweak it with photoshop or something. The fact that you freehanded the whole thing, well I just bow down! Amazing job.

I'm another referred from TWoP (heheheheheh) and I haven't figured out this LiveJournal stuff so I'm a nony mouse!
