First post...

I never watched the original BSG, so I don't have a background on those characters. But, I'm finding it interesting that the writing is starting to develop the meanings for their names, etc.


Boomer, ever wonder how she got her name? When she mentioned she was from Troy, and that everyone died in a mine collapse, my mind immediately went to the Trojan horse story from the Greek classics...Suppose she was the "Trojan Horse" sent to Troy by the Cylons? That she was the one responsible for her 'family's' deaths?

And, if they are taking direction from names in terms of the Gods of Cobal (Kobal?) from the Greco-Roman mythos, I wonder how Apollo's and Helo's direction will be determined?

And what then about Starbuck? I haven't read Moby Dick so I don't know at all about any significance to her name.

Of course, this could just be ramblings, and none of it means anything.


But, I'm curious to find out if anyone else has had similar thoughts. And of course, if this is a repeat question, my apologies.

I never watched the original series either, but I understand there was a male "Boomer" character. I did catch the "Troy" reference though, and thought 'aha- Trojan horse!' I don't think that much that the writers do here is accidental, so I think we'll find out about some of the names sooner or later. We already found out what Apollo should live up to re: his namesake in "Bastille Day."
