Man.

For the longest time, I've been hearing about the campaign to revive Battlestar Galactica. It was a series I watched as a kid, and had no real problem with the resurrection of, as long as they did it right.

Then, it happened, and I made no effort to see it. True, I don't have cable (yet), but my friends do, and I didn't even think to ask them to tape it for me, or catch it on DVD and bring me one.

Last night, I just downloaded the first part of the premier episode.

I can't tell you how blown away I was.

All the reading I'd been doing on it, about how big a piece of crap the show was, the poor cinematography, the poor acting, the bad special effects, etc.: pure garbage.

It's one of the best shows I've seen in a long time, and it's really prompting me to get cable. Me being a military man, sure, I see a few dingbats in the writing, but very few, and nothing I'm going to stop watching the show over. The idiot that wrote the piece I read said you couldn't care about the characters, and you had to hate them all. Again, pure garbage. I hate some (like the new Starbuck), and like many others. If you like the show, it's impossible to not like the characters, including the new Commander Adama. I love the references to the past incarnation of the show, as well, and the explainations of the new. I find this show virtually flawless, and look forward to seeing as many as I can.
