Jump drive

I've always wondered why any show that has ships with jump drives of one type or another. Why they do not at least occasionally use the drive to jump around the battle. Fire then jump to the opposite side of the battle fire again then jump ETC,

I relize that in many shows the drives require a certain amount of time to warm up, cool down or whatever the writers can think of. While on some shows the drives are not accurate enough to move around a small area.

But on BSG the drives are accurate and most ships don't require a pause betwwen jumps.
