question about Mr. Bamber and BsG's PTB

I've just watched the miniseries for the first time this weekend, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Adama and Apollo were my favorite characters in the original series (which I watched in first run) and I'm so happy with what they've done in the new series--and not just with those two characters. Excellent, excellent reworking of the original show's premise.
However, when I listened to the mini-series' DVD commentary track, I noticed that while the writer, producer and director gushed and raved about all the actors, even the ones in minor roles (which were expanded because of the actor's talent), they said almost nothing about Katee Sackhoff and next to nothing about Jamie Bamber. In fact, they seemed to run out of things to say when he was the central figure in the scene. The only real comment about Mr. Bamber was about the way he chose to play the character. It just seems odd, given that Apollo is one of the more central characters in the show, and Mr. Bamber, while not well known, is certainly more of a known quantity than many of the Canadian actors in the show.
And personally, I think he's doing a brilliant job--as is Ms. Sackhoff. She's obviously watched Dirk Benedict's performance, but she's taken it further and made it totally her own. I didn't expect to like her character at all, but you can't not like her.
Okay, back to trying to figure out how to hack my DVD player so I can buy region 2 DVDs. We don't get cable, so I'm stuck waiting for the DVDs for further episodes. *pouts*
