13thcolony | (no subject)

I last saw the mini when it first aired in 2003. While I remembered the basic plot, I'd forgotten a lot of little things - the BSGTOS music right before Adama's speech at the decommissioning ceremony, Lee's look while he watched the missile about to kill him etc.

My last two fandoms were XF and SV, so I'm awe struck at the continuity in BSG! So many things in the mini were followed up on later in the series - Adama says of course he's not staging a military coup yet ends up doing exactly that, Lee tries to talk to his father about what he's feeling and Adama shuts him down for the first but not the last time, the scene between Starbuck and Tigh when he offers an olive branch and she throws it in face is a mirror of the scene between them in Water, Roslin tells Adama that people will never forgive him for lying about earth and the lie is the deciding factor in Kara going back to Caprica, and the Astral Queen.

I've wondered before if Baltar is a cylon and doesn't know it. Perhaps 6 was able to jump into his body after the explosion at his lake house. It would also explain how the person he chose to accuse of being a cylon actually turned out to be one. I'm not sure what the advantage would be to the cylons for him not to know he's one of them however.

In the scene between Starbuck and Tigh at the end, does she have a tattoo on the back of her neck? It looked like she did to me.

I like Roslin's hair so much better in the mini. I've never liked the Farrah Fawcett hair do she has in the series.

"The lady's in charge." I love the scene where Lee meets Laura for the first time!!! He's so obviously impressed and attracted to her. *g*

I'd forgotten Cally cried when Prosna(sp?) died. I wonder if they were a couple? Not that she couldn't cry over him if they were just friends of course, but it's fun to speculate.

LOL! I have a calculator just like the one Baltar uses on Colonial one. I have no idea where it is at the moment, but I have one. *g*

That little mention of the Astral Queen in the mini makes me ridiculously happy :)

And as far as I know, Katee has three tattoos, and I think we see them all throughout the series - there's the sun on her neck, one on her inner arm just under her elbow (I think that's the one that says 'public property', I remember her explaining it in an interview) and I think there's one on her back, near her shoulder blade.

And I like the theory that Baltar might be a cylon. I'm gonna have to think about that one..

It would explain a lot of his knowledge, but I'm not sure why he wouldn't know he was a cylon.

I've heard the Baltar-as-Cylon theory too, but I think the argument breaks down if you start to ponder why Six would have to be involved with him for two years to gain access to the defense mainframe. Were Baltar really a Cylon, it should have been possible to direct him to sabotage the system, no sexy blond needed. Even if he weren't aware (cf, Boomer in Water), he still could have completed the mission.

That's my problem with it too. While it would make sense for him to be a cylon, it wouldn't make sense for him to be a sleeper agent. Unless he was a *seriously* flawed model. *g*

I do remember one about the 'public property' tattoo, but it was pretty much of the 'got drunk, and whoops!' variety, and I can't remember the name of it, or the author.

I'm kinda surprised no one's latched onto the connection to Lee, what with Apollo being the sun god and all...
